Accompanying Orpheus along the road ascending towards life, and walking by Hermese’s side, unstable and delicate Euridice, wrapped in the cloak of death is neither strong nor willing enough to cast a look towards the cave where the light of life comes from. Orpheus is not patient nor strong enough to refrain from turning back to see if Euridice follows him. Thus he does not succeed to take her into the light of life.
The question of the bottomless depth and suffering, as well as of the human soul’s persistence, is the line of inspiration connecting Rilke’s poem “Orpheus. Euridice. Hermes.” (based upon the ancient Greek myth) to the necessity of Blue Theatre’s members to explore human soul within the experience of horrible and dramatic moments of our time, today, at the end of 20th century when mind leaves to the soul the sole option of suffering.
