THE CENTRE FOR STUDY OF JERZY GROTOWSKI'S WORK AND FOR CULTURAL AND THEATRICAL RESEARCH – GROTOWSKI CENTRE is an institution which combines artistic and scholarly research projects that correspond to the challenges laid down by Jerzy Grotowski’s artistic practice. Founded in 1990 the Centre operates from the former Laboratory Theatre premises located in Wrocław and from the forest base of Brzezinka near Oleśnica.

Jerzy Grotowski (1933–1999) – a Polish theatre director, practitioner and thinker of culture, researcher into the human behavior in extra-daily conditions, founder of
Laboratory Theatre, realized the idea of "poor theatre" which achieved its peak with performances "The Constant Prince" and "Apocalypsis cum Figuris"; he also realized paratheatrical projects, as well as of projects Theatre of Sources and Art as Vehicle in the late phase of his work.

TEATR ZAR has been under the process of formation for almost three years during the time of expeditions and creative theatrical work.

Theatre out of the Spirit of Music, work demonstration of ZAR group will be focused on its music work related to the actor’s tasks using the singing energy as a powerful source. Elements of natural rhythmic patterns exploration will be shown with connection of breath and voice towards actions based on physical contact between partners/singers.

Music of the Spirit, concert of Teatr ZAR consists of the music used in their performance Gospels of Childhood. The initial impulse for the project Gospels of Childhood was an interest in the gnostic elements in the beginning of Christianity.
The songs used in the performance were collected by the company during its expeditions to Georgia, Bulgaria and Greece in the years 1999 – 2003. Especially important was the work with the Svaneti people, living in the highest part of the Caucasus mountains. In their tradition they kept the funeral songs, which have their roots in the beginning of our era and are the oldest form of polyphony in Georgia, probably also the oldest in the world. The second musical plot consists of liturgical songs from the Orthodox Republic of Monks – Athos.

Leader of the project: Jaroslav Fret
Performers/singers: Ditte Berkeley, Aleksandra Kotecka, Tomasz Bojarski, Tomasz Wierzbowski, Dominik Koscielak, Łukasz Walewski
Tour assistant and technician: Magdalena Madra

SPECCHI E MEMORIE was founded in 1987 by Massimo Giannetti.
It had a theatrical origin, and for the first years its Masters and sources of inspiration were Odin Teatret specially through the work with Torgeir Wethal, and Teater Laboratorium of Jerzy Grotowski working with Rena Mirecka.
In 1995 Specchi e Memorie started opening its work even in paratheatrical way, and from 1998 creates and organizes Pedagogical Projects. Specchi e Memorie people continue - as main line of  its process for growth of their knowledge, experience and vision -  research, study and application in different branches of Philosophy, Poetry and Literature fields and more recently also in modern fields as Psychology and Human Behavior, Epistemology, Sociobiology, Natural Sciences, etc.
“Theatrical work can’t be seen just as a process for aesthetical results and products, but also a mean to discover, to proof and to communicate something new about Human Being and about Reality, in specific and absolute sense”.

Irrelevances
Starting from the needing to put ourselves essential questions about life and its sense, this performance began the phase of Specchi e Memorie process called: Theatre of questions in action. The performance tells about discovery of irrelevance of human condition and its themes seen in a strictly personal way (love, will, freedom, hope, death, etc.). Irrelevance which produces, once you have the consciousness of it, an attempt of change, first in the exterior way of living trying every kind of experience and role in the life, then in your own inner life, even taking the risk to go toward madness.
