"I Sing As If I Was a Bird" is a co-production between Plavo pozoriste and international theatre festival Stadt Deiner Liebe from the city of Halle, Germany. The festival is organized on the occasion of 1200 years of festivities of the city of Halle.
Belgrade premiere of the performance "I Sing As If I Was a Bird" will take place in October in BITEF Theatre.

“I Sing As If I Was a Bird” is a verse from Goethe’s poem “The Singer”. Fifteen year old Hermann Hesse recited this poem while he was studying and serving in evangelistic monastery Maulbronn, when his teacher criticized his too proudly and too freely reciting of the verse. Young Hesse wrote this in a letter to his parents, which proves that was one of the first barbs of repression of outer world which was painfully felt by freedom-loving and truthful sensual being of Hermann Hesse.
“I Sing As If I Was a Bird” is a performance which was created as an expression of our spiritualneed. It is another performance of Plavo pozoriste based on contradictions of the question of freedom. This time, from the point of view of a European citizen whose life breaths senselessness and confusion, madness and dream, like the life of all the people who will no longer lie themselves. The painful emotion of Hermann Hesse which threads through all of his works and which echoes through his life like a cry of civic freedom, was our inspiration and our comfort.
“I Sing As If I Was a Bird” is an adventure of a group of artists who do not desert their ground, but go on a pilgrimage following the footsteps of Hermann Hesse, and arrive to magic theatre where everything is possible, only if you previously leave your civic personality in the cloakroom. It is possible to erase boundaries between culture and spirituality, it is possible for love to oppose to centuries of fighting, it is possible to develop emancipation in spite of xenophobia and possessiveness.
“I Sing As If I Was a Bird” is the performance which shows, like Steppenwolf of Hermann Hesse, a disease and crisis, which road doesn't lead to disaster, but on the contrary, to salvation. It is the performance which was being born heavily, like every human act which wishes to sing as if it was a bird.
