Plavo pozorište workshop presents introducing of participants to basic principles of Plavo pozorište work, but as well with some codification of contemporary theatre in general, in theoretical and practical sense.
Our aim is to share experiences in work in the field of thought and technique, through research process and creative work. Theoretical part of the workshop will treat basis of our working ideology and method of work on a certain question, which will be determined in the beginning of the work as thematic frame of the research. Practical part of the work will consist of physical and vocal exercises, introducing to actors’ training, creation of acting materials and their integration into wider context – a presentation of work open for public which will end the workshop.
During two week long work our aim is to show participants our vision of theatre as place of self-researching, place of communication, space of open mind where some important things about the world that surrounds us can be said.

This year Plavo pozoriste will realise its fourth international workshop in Belgrade. Continuity of this event for us presents one among the ways to cherish our need to make contemporary theatre a place of meeting and place of exchanging of experiences between different cultures.

Who can participate?

Workshop is open for actors, directors and all theatre people who want to expand their knowledge of contemporary theatre, as well as for people who are not engaged in theatre professionally, but want to get introduced to contemporary theatre through specific work of Plavo pozorište.
Our aim is to introduce participants to language of contemporary theatre and to provide participants idea of sense and methods of work in contemporary theatre, as a base and motivation for their further self-development and self-researching.

What is specific work of Plavo pozorište?

Relying on a contemporary theatre tradition, one of the main characteristics of Plavo pozorište, is researching approach to work. Using models like Jerzy Grotowsky or Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret, Plavo pozorište production appeared. It is based on laboratory work in idea to accept and deepen the inheritance of knowledge of scenic expression.
The laboratory approach indicates the need of self-researching process. During this process, the actor/actress/musician sharpens his/her mind and consciousness, and gets to scenic experience, using specific system of signs. The sign language of Plavo pozorište came as a result of researching of development in contemporary theatre, but as a result of our own research, too.
In Plavo pozorište method of work, one has to have sharp thought and not only perfect technique. Starting with human approach to theatre, Plavo pozorište sees actor/actress/musician as a human being. More precisely, an active human being, the one who does, changes theatre situation and communicates with spectator, influences audience by using not only movement but his/her conscious energy. Through years Plavo pozorište has developed its specific inner technique, based on human experience.

Methods of work

Techniques used by Plavo pozorište are contemporary acting techniques born in theatre laboratories of XX century theatre, to which our own experience in different circumstances has been added.
Theoretical part of workshop will treat working ideology with the aim to present a sort of a map through research process starting from reasons for creation and question induced by personal experience to enriching and reviving of the inner world which is being materialized with the help of technique.
Actors’ training which principles were established by Grotowski, is a basis of everyday work of actor/actress on himself/herself. Training is consisted of vocal, physical and plastic exercises which enable actor/actress a space for research and liberation of their organic life, through the unity of mind and action. They are necessary because with their help actor/actress exercises scenic presence and trains his/her will to activate all expressive capabilities in the moment of performing.  Workshop participants will be introduced to basic elements and principles of training, as well as with the possibility of its development and individual adjustment in time.
Working on acting materials participants will create their own partitures, based on personal experiences and connected with theme and questions which the research process will treat, applying new knowledge.
Participants will have the opportunity to circle their work through interaction with spectators in
work presentation which is open for audience and being a public act, it presents integral part of any theatrical experience.
